Competition for signings in the Championship is heating up as clubs look to get their summer additions racked up as much as possible before the looming hectic pre-season schedule.

One of the more highlighted rumours circulating at the moment is the race between Leeds United, Birmingham City and Aston Villa attempting to pen down the fairly fought-after winger Aiden McGeady.

Although all three teams would hugely benefit with the former Republic of Ireland international in their squads, Leeds in particular would thrive in his presence at Elland Road. Birmingham City and Aston Villa have got their fairly experienced managers to mount a promotion

Birmingham City and Aston Villa have vastly experienced managers to mount a promotion push already in place, whilst the Whites don't and need all they can get on the pitch to fulfil their ambitions.

During a loan stint at fellow Championship side Preston North End last term, the 31-year-old earned raving reviews for his performances; his 34 league outings saw him net eight goals and provide a further nine.

That is the sort of prolific form which new Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen needs in his starting eleven ahead of his rivals, especially if he hopes to bring Premier League football back to Elland Road.

Despite being the wrong side of thirty, McGeady still obtains an abundance of quality and that could prove vital for any side who swoops for his services - he has the ability to single-handily win a game out of nowhere.

Aiden McGeady surely is a pleasure to watch and any set of supporters would appreciate the winger in their team, but Leeds mostly because of the experience he can contribute to the downbeat players which regrettably missed out on a potential trip to Wembley last season.

Leeds United fans, would you welcome Aiden McGeady to Elland Road? Can he be the final piece of the jigsaw? What does the Irishman offer which is currently lacking? Let us get your thoughts in the comment section below!
