Transfermarkt – via Planet Football – has a list of footballers who are available in the summer for a move thanks to their contracts running out at their current clubs.
The free agent market can often offer some bargains and it is surely going to be the case once again in the next window as clubs look to improve on this year.
Certainly, Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to put together a better campaign than last year and so the Owls will surely be considering any deals that might improve their prospects.
One man, then, that could perhaps be of use to the Hillsborough outfit next year is Sammy Ameobi with him available from Bolton in the summer.
Of course, the Trotters might aim to get him a new deal if they can stay up this season but, even so, when a club like Wednesday come calling it can be hard to turn down.
We’ve seen a lot of times this season that the Owls have lacked a bit of direction and drive up top with a number of blunt displays to think of.
Ameobi, though, is great at adding just that with him capable of carrying the ball long distances out wide and then adding an end product.
For sure, he might be the whole answer to Wednesday’s woes right now but, for a free-agent, he could seriously be worth taking a punt on.
