It was a very negative transfer window for Birmingham City with a summer filled with uncertainty and negativity, as a transfer embargo threatened to derail their season before it had started.

But Garry Monk has overseen a solid if unspectacular start to the season.

The Blues have drawn twice and lost once to three of the division's stronger sides, only succumbing to a 1-0 defeat at the Riverside against Middlesbrough.

A 2-2 draw on the opening day showed plenty of fight and attacking promise whilst a 0-0 draw to Swansea City last time out, where they were arguably the better side, will also be a boost to Monk.

But they would be silly to rest on their laurels and not fully utilise the remainder of the loan window in order to strengthen as much as possible.

Omar Bogle, Connor Mahoney and Gary Gardner have all moved to St. Andrews on loan this summer and there is one more name being linked with the club.

Who?

Lazio's Ravel Morrison is the man in question, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The fiery 25-year-old midfielder previously impressed during a loan spell with the Blues in the 2012/13 season where he racked up three goals and three assists in 27 appearances.

And it could be a terrific signing, albeit a risky one.

Why?

Following Chiek N'Dioye's departure, Monk is interested in signing a midfielder and with Morrison invited back to the club last summer before a potential deal fell through, it is a move that could have some potential.

There has never been any question of Morrison's talent after breaking through at West Ham. He is somebody capable of getting the fans off their seats and would be a really exciting addition to the club.

The risk lies in his personality.

In the past, the midfielder has been arrested on multiple occasions for a range of reasons including witness intimidation and criminal damage.

He was also fined for posting a homophobic message on Twitter in 2013.

So there is clearly a side to Morrison that is unsavoury to say the least.

But he clearly has a lot of admiration for the club and it appears somewhere he could genuinely thrive and begin to rebuild his career.

Alongside the likes of Jota, Garry Monk could have some real attacking prowess, unmatched by any others expecting to be battling at the bottom.
