Blackpool have had a fascinating summer with a new era beginning following the appointment of Michael Appleton.

The former Lincoln City boss is back at the helm at Bloomfield Road having left the club around a decade ago, and the Tangerines are in much better shape now than they were then.

They've had a pretty quiet summer so far but are still looking for new signings and, with the new season nearly here, we're taking a look at some of the latest Blackpool headlines...

Dom Thompson signs

Blackpool have announced the signing of Dom Thompson, with the player joining from Brentford.

The full-back has played for the likes of Ipswich Town on loan in the past, and will now be looking forward to getting playing in the Sky Bet Championship.

A left-sided defender, he'll be pushing to get straight into the first team from the off now he has arrived.

Andy Lyons talks continue

There were contrasting reports surrounding Lyons' links with Blackpool but it sounds as though the deal is still possible as things stand.

Stephen Bradley has said that the Tangerines remain 'serious' about trying to sign Lyons this summer transfer window.

He's currently at Shamrock Rovers, but could make the hop over the Irish Sea before the market is shut this summer.

Doug Tharme injury blow

The new season is nearly here but Doug Tharme will unfortunately not play any part in the opening weekend for Blackpool.

He has picked up an adductor injury that has ruled him out of contention for the start of the season.

A blow for the Tangerines, and for Tharme himself, but the youngster will surely get his chance to play a big part for Blackpool later on in the campaign.
