Ipswich Town will be hoping to maintain their remarkable start to the 2019/20 campaign this weekend, as they look to take on Accrington Stanley away from home.

The Tractor Boys have enjoyed a magnificent start to life back in the third tier of English football, and have already set the pace in the division straight away.

Paul Lambert's side have won eight of their first 11 league games, and are yet to lose a game upon dropping into Sky Bet League One - they currently sit four points clear of second placed Wycombe Wanderers, with a game in hand on the Chairboys.

With the squad Ipswich have on paper, they should be doing very well indeed, and so far, they haven't failed to disappoint.

They look solid in defence, having only conceded five goals thus far this term, and in Kayden Jackson and James Norwood, they have one of the most dangerous strike partnerships in the division.

They look a threat going forward and have goals coming from every area of the pitch, especially in their wing-back areas, with Kane Vincent-Young and Luke Garbutt both contributing to the goals this term.

The latter has proven to become an excellent signing since arriving on loan from Everton, scoring three goals in five games for the Tractor Boys despite playing as a left wing-back.

The 26-year-old was hugely missed when he was sidelined for a month with a knee injury, but he has come up leaps and bounds under Lambert, after failing to set to the division alight before with Oxford United.

If Garbutt keeps up his impressive form, Ipswich fans will undoubtedly be urging the club to tie him down and bring him to Portman Road from Goodison Park on a permanent basis.

The defender has even spoken about the prospects of him joining Town permanently, saying: "I've really enjoyed my time here, I've settled in well into the group and the fans are brilliant. Playing in front of 20,000 is what I want to be doing.

"So as long as we keep playing well and doing well as a squad I don't see why I wouldn't stay permanently. I'm settled and enjoying my football."

These comments should come as a massive boost for Ipswich Town fans and Lambert especially. Not only is Garbutt an important player now, but he's entering his prime, and Town would be getting a player at his best if they signed him for good.

They are very reliant upon on him when he plays, and youngster Myles Kenlock has struggled to step up to the plate in his absence.

It's highly unlikely, also, that Garbutt will break into the Everton team anytime soon. He's had his chances to impress plenty of managers when playing for the Toffees, but it just hasn't worked for one reason or another.

Garbutt has already developed a positive relationship with the Tractor Boys faithful, and there should be no doubts about signing him permanently after his latest comments.
