Marcelo Bielsa will have definitely learnt a lot about Leeds United, as well as English football, in his first season in charge at Elland Road.

The Argentine, on the whole, has been a breath of fresh air at the Yorkshire club, with his unique personality and meticulous approach on football making him become one of the most loveable figures at Elland Road in many a year.

On the pitch, his side haven’t been too bad either - they finished 3rd in the Sky Bet Championship, their highest finish in the second tier since the 1989/90 campaign.

But of course, that all counts for nothing when you miss out on promotion, and that is what Leeds did this season in heartbreaking season.

Leeds had cemented themselves in the automatic promotion spots for the majority of the campaign, but after losing their place to Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United, Bielsa’s side lost to Derby in the semi-finals, despite leading 2-0 on aggregate at one stage.

Bielsa’s future at Elland Road is currently up in the air, but now is the time for everyone to dust themselves down and go again for next season, with the club already seemingly planning for next term already.

Reports from Football Insider claim that Leeds, as well as Brentford and Sheffield Wednesday, are interested in signing FC Zurich winger Benjamin Kololli this summer - the 27-year-old has shone in the Europa League this season, and has also scored 14 goals and added eight assists in all competitions this term.

The left winger certainly looks a talented player on paper, and if Leeds managed to sign him, then it would show that Bielsa has learnt from one of his previous mistakes.

In the January transfer window, Leeds signed just one player in Kiko Casilla, with youngster Mateusz Bogusz joining up with Carlos Corberan’s development squad, whilst the club paid the price for leaving the Dan James too late.

Now, with James set to join Manchester United, Leeds definitely need to bolster their wide options, with Jack Harrison hardly making an impact this season, and now set to return to Manchester City.

If Leeds are serious about going one step further next season, then they need to add real quality to their squad, and Kololli would certainly strengthen a position that needs focusing on.
