Queens Park Rangers boss Mick Beale is prepared to accept the Rangers job today after holding talks with some of the Scottish side's key players last night, according to the Scottish Daily Mail (26/11 paper edition; page 115).

The 42-year-old has been linked with a move away from Loftus Road for a decent chunk of his time in the English capital, only arriving in West London in the summer to take on his first head coach role.

He looked to have put speculation about a potential departure to bed last month when he rejected an approach from Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers, showing real loyalty and becoming an even more popular amongst his current side's fanbase.

However, results have gone slightly downhill since then with the club now sitting outside the play-off zone and his links to the Gers have only gone on to worsen the mood at Loftus Road.

According to a report from the Daily Record earlier this week, Beale was the leading candidate for the top job at Ibrox following a successful previous spell there with Steven Gerrard.

And at the same report also revealed that the 42-year-old was interested in taking the job, something he looks set to do today after holding talks with some of Rangers' key players yesterday evening.

Although he asked to be given last night to make his final decision, the ex-Aston Villa assistant coach is now leaning towards accepting the top job.

The Verdict:

After talking about loyalty last month, it's a real disappointment that Beale may be moving on.

No judgements should be made until his departure is finally sealed because there are always twists and turns around the corner - but if he does go - that isn't exactly going to reflect well on him.

He can't control speculation and that's something everyone needs to accept - but the fact he spoke about his future ambitions in an interview not so long ago and actually went to attend a Rangers match probably wasn't the best idea.

Doing these things may seem natural to others - but you would think Beale would have been slightly wiser considering he had recently been heavily linked with the Wolves job.

And if he does go, at least the speculation surrounding him will finally leave with the 42-year-old, something that was arguably a big distraction as QPR look to get themselves back to the Premier League.

They have an exciting project going on and if Beale does depart, it will provide the opportunity for another man to come in and take on a great job.
