Reading have yet to offer a new deal to full-back Omar Richards amid mounting speculation about his future, journalist Courtney Friday has revealed.

Richards is out of contract at The Madejski Stadium at the end of this season, meaning he could leave the club for free before then, while European clubs can open talks with him about a pre-contract deal now.

Indeed, it was recently reported that reigning Champions League champions Bayern Munich are targeting a move for the defender.

But despite that, it seems Reading have still yet to officially make their move to secure the future of the 22-year-old at the Madejski Stadium.

According to Friday's latest update, there is still no "concrete offer" on the table for Richards, suggesting that the full-back's future still remains very much up in the air.

Despite that, it does seem as though the possibility of an extended stay at Reading for Richards is possible, with the club said to be being "pushed towards" new deals for Richards and fellow defender Tom McIntyre, who is also out of contract in the summer.

A graduate of Reading's academy, Richards has made a total of 83 appearances in all competitions for the Royals, scoring three goals in that time.

McIntyre meanwhile, has made 29 senior appearances for Reading since stepping up from the club's youth ranks, scoring once since then.

The Verdict

It does seem as though this could be a nervous few weeks or months for Reading fans with regards to Richards.

The full-back is clearly a quality player, so you can understand why they would be desperate to secure his future at the club as quickly as possible.

Indeed, the level of interest there appears to be in him is only likely to make that more difficult, meaning you feel Reading ought to be looking to get this done as soon as possible, before one of those interested parties makes Richards an offer he can't refuse.
