Preston North End are seemingly set to sign Liam Lindsay on a permanent deal from Stoke City, with Deepdale Digest reporting that the centre back is likely to join the club.
The 25-year-old defender previously signed for the Lilywhites back in February on loan from the Potters and was used as a direct replacement for the departed Ben Davies, who joined Liverpool in a shock move.
Lindsay made a good impact once he arrived at North End and went on to score twice in his 13 Sky Bet Championship appearances for the club as they secured a 13th place finish.
Now it appears that Preston are keen to strike a six figure deal with Stoke in order to keep the player on a permanent basis, with it being said that the defender has no future at the Bet365 Stadium under Potters boss Michael O’Neill.
What club do these 21 former Preston North End players ply their trade at now?
The Scotsman has one year remaining on his current contract with the Stoke-on-Trent outfit and previously signed for the club back in the summer of 2019 from Barnsley.
Preston breathed new life into Lindsay’s career this season after he was somewhat frozen out at Stoke and now I fully expect the club to complete this potential deal and keep him at Deepdale for the foreseeable future.
His form and fitness is only going to improve now that he is back playing regularly and North End should have a player on their hands who can shore up the backline for years to come.
He still has his prime years ahead of him and could well prove to be a very shrewd addition by the Lilywhites moving forwards.
With his future at Stoke having seemingly been determined, negotiations should be a forgone conclusion as he closes in on a departure from the Bet365 Stadium this summer that suits all parties down to the ground.
