Taking to Twitter on Tuesday morning, Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol has revealed that there remains a 40% chance that this season gets called off and that then there will need to be decisions made on things like promotion and relegation.

Whilst League One and League Two are likely to get curtailed, the top two tiers in England are still planning on resuming with Leeds and West Brom hoping that that will be the case so they can return to the Premier League.

Indeed, there is still real hope that the campaign will be played out to a natural conclusion but, that said, there seems a significant enough probability that things will end up differently.

Solhekol revealed:

The Verdict

Though the top line has been that the leagues want to finish the season naturally, it is clear as you get into the finer detail that, actually, there are still several sizeable obstacles to get over.

The Whites and the Baggies will hope that they get the chance to be Premier League sides next season but, until that is confirmed, there will remain a sense of anxiety and uncertainty over it all.

Null and void appears out of the question, but it remains to be seen whether a season cancellation would allow for promotion and relegation.
