Birmingham City are in talks with former Motorola and Microsoft executive Jeremy Dale about potentially investing into the club.

The Championship strugglers released a statement earlier this week revealing that they were in talks with a 'third party over a proposed investment deal for both St Andrew’s Stadium and a shareholding in the club'.

Since then there has been speculation over who was involved and the Athletic have confirmed that businessman Dale is keen on putting money into the club.

They state that Dale along with business partner Keith Pelley have set up Often Partisan Limited, which is a reference to Blues' famous 'Keep Right On' chant, and they would appear to be the two figures behind any deal for Birmingham.

Pelley is a successful Canadian businessman who has a history in sports, including running the PGA European Tour in golf. Meanwhile, Dale is a Blues supporter and has work interests in the city.

Of course, this is not the first time that Blues have been subject to interest, as a previous deal with Paul Richardson and Maxi Lopez fell through.

The verdict

This is good news in the sense that all connected to Blues will want to get rid of the current regime but there are more details that need to come out regarding this prospective deal.

However, it does show that there's plenty of interest in Birmingham and that is a real positive.

So, the fans will wait to see how this plays out but the focus for John Eustace and the players will be on the pitch as they desperately need to get back on track after a dismal start to 2023.
