Derby boss Frank Lampard has a growing injury list ahead of his side's trip to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday.

Mason Bennett and Craig Forsyth were added to an already lengthy injury list as they were forced off in the 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa before the international break.

Bennett isn't expected to return anytime soon, whilst Forsyth looks set to be sidelined for the remainder of this season, which will be a devastating blow to Derby's promotion chance.

According to the Derby Telegraph, central midfielders, George Evans and Joe Ledley, are set to miss the weekend's game and are not expected back until the festive period.

Marcus Olsson won't be available for selection for the Rams until the New Year, which leaves Frank Lampard with limited options at full-back, with Scott Malone the only left-back available after Forsyth's recent injury.

Lampard is sweating on the fitness of Mason Mount, Craig Bryson and Martyn Waghorn, who are all in contention to return to the squad after missing recent games through injury.

The Derby boss will hope to have his strongest XI available to him in the near future to help aid their promotion bid this season, as on their day, the Rams will be one of the most feared teams going forward.

It is sure to be potentially tricky fixture for Lampard's side this weekend against a Sheffield Wednesday side that will be hoping to turn their season around after a recent poor run of results that has seen them slip down the table.

The Verdict

The injury suffered by Forsyth in particular will come as a huge blow to Derby fans, who would have hoped that the left-back would have kicked on this season after his recent injury woes.

The most crucial player for Derby who is currently sidelined is Mount, and Lampard will be keen to have his midfield talisman back in contention against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.

If the Rams have Mount fit then I can see them sweeping the Owls aside as they continue their promotion charge this season.
