West Bromwich Albion will have both Mason Holgate and Craig Dawson available for tomorrow’s clash with Brentford.
James Shan was sweating over the availability of his defensive duo after they were both forced from the field during Wednesday night’s 3-0 win over Swansea City at The Hawthorns.
However, the caretaker Baggies boss has now confirmed that both will be available to face Brentford after coming through training late this week.
“Both of them (Dawson and Holgate) will be fine and available,” he told the club’s official website.
“Craig was much better yesterday (Thursday). They’ll both be reviewed again today, but I’m imagining after reports from my medical team, they’ll be okay.”
Whilst there was good news on that duo, Shan is waiting to see if Matty Phillips will be available for selection following ankle troubles.
In addition to that, Tosin Adarabioyo will miss the game through a hamstring problem, whilst Kieran Gibbs isn’t ready to return yet, with that likely to come following next weekend’s international break.
The Baggies are also likely to use that period to source Darren Moore’s permanent replacement, with the club still on the lookout for the man to take them forwards.
Having Holgate and Dawson available is a big boost for Shan here, as his defensive options are limited at the moment.
Both players bring so much to the four-man unit, so to lose either at this stage would be a blow.
It’s not going to be easy for West Brom against Brentford and they’ll have to be at their best all over the park.
