Patrick Bamford has handed Leeds United a major boost ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Reading, with Marcelo Bielsa confirming that the striker will be fit enough to lead the line at the Madejski Stadium.

Leeds were left sweating on the fitness of Bamford after Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Bristol City, with the striker picking up a knock in the act of scoring the game’s only goal.

He carried on into the second-half, but was eventually replaced, which left doubt surrounding his availability heading into tomorrow.

However, Bielsa has confirmed to Phil Hay at the Yorkshire Evening Post that Bamford, along with Kalvin Phillips, is fit to play tomorrow, with Leeds’ 18 set to be unchanged once again.

It’ll be the fifth consecutive game that Bielsa has called on the same personnel in the starting XI, with Leeds looking to keep on track in a fierce promotion race.

In the four previous games that Bielsa has named this line-up, Leeds have picked up nine points, including back-to-back victories ahead of the trip to Reading.

Like Leeds, Reading also enter this game on the back of two wins, which have boosted their chance of survival.

The Verdict

This is a big, big boost for Leeds as Bamford is so important, particularly in Kemar Roofe’s absence.

Whilst there is an important game against Sheffield United on the horizon, it is vital that Leeds overcome the challenge of Reading.

Saying that, Bielsa will hope he can give Bamford some sort of rest tomorrow.
