Aston Villa fans are set for an intriguing week concerning their club with plenty of speculation surrounding key figures at Villa Park.

With new faces in the boardroom, Steve Bruce is set to learn whether he is to keep his job this week with the likes of Thierry Henry being touted as a potential replacement.

Meanwhile, the playing staff are trying to prepare for the new campaign with key members of the squad getting repeatedly linked away.

The latest rumour, then, comes from the Daily Mail with them reporting that Stoke City have lodged a £10m bid for defender James Chester.

One of the best centre-halves in the league, it's easy to see why Stoke would want Chester and it is obvious they have the money to pull it off.

The suggestion is that Villa are not as desperate for cash as they once were, though, and so it is up for debate whether they accept the offer.

The Verdict

Villa are surely going to turn this bid down.

It's decent money but Chester is worth more than that to the Villans and they don't appear as tight for cash as they were not so long ago.

Stoke are ambitious but Villa will want to show they remain so, too.
