Under Chris Wilder's management, Sheffield United have thoroughly deserved their promotion to the Championship.

A 2-1 victory over Northampton Town at the weekend, ended 6 gruelling years of League One football, and now the Blades are arguably back to where they belong next season.

Although the League One campaign is still in full swing, and they will want to seal the title, there's no doubt that Wilder will be already looking for fresh, new talent, that will sustain the Yorkshire club's position in the second tier.

The likes of 26-goal captain Billy Sharp, John Fleck, Kieron Freeman, and many others have all been phenomenal in galvanising United's promotion push, but are other players enough to achieve their goals next season?

With that being said, here, FLW writer George Harbey identifies TWO midfielders that Sheffield United NEED to sign in the summer...

Ryan Leonard

One player who has already been linked with the Blades for next season is Leonard.

The 24-year old has made 40 appearances this season for Southend United, as they have made a decent fight of trying to secure a playoff place themselves in League One.

The box-to-box midfielder has made over 200 appearances for Phil Brown's men, and is highly regarded at Roots Hall.

Midfield cover is highly important for any team in the Football League, and the addition of Ryan Leonard would be a shrewd one if Wilder manages to land him.

Lasse Vigen Christensen

Another player to be linked with a move to Bramall Lane in the summer is the Fulham midfielder.

The Dane has reportedly attracted the likes of Birmingham City and Scottish giants Celtic, and is unlikely to be offered a new deal by parent club Fulham, despite impressing on loan at Burton Albion this season.

As alluded before, versatility is key in the harsh, gruelling environment of the Championship, and Christensen definitely fits the bill with his ability to play the heart of midfield, behind the striker, or even at right-back.
