Plenty of Sheffield Wednesday fans have urged defender Michael Hector to sign a permanent contract for the club, after he was named the Owls' player of the season.

The 26-year-old has had an outstanding campaign for Wednesday since joining on a season-long loan from Chelsea in August, making 38 appearances for the Owls in all competitions.

The centre-back beat striker Steven Fletcher and midfielder Barry Bannan to the player of the season award, receiving 42% of the vote from Owls supporters.

After receiving the award, Hector posted this message on his

Hector has been a great signing for Sheffield Wednesday this season and has formed a solid partnership with captain Tom Lees at centre-back.

Owls manager Steve Bruce has already expressed his desire to keep the defender at the club beyond this season, with his current contract at Chelsea set to expire next summer.

Hector's commanding performances on the pitch this season have seen him become a fan favourite at Hillsborough and plenty of fans took to social media to congratulate the player on his award, urging him to sign a permanent deal with the club.
