Many Derby County fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that Paulo Wanchope has been watching the club's first-team players train ahead of their clash with Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

The 43-year-old, who is currently in the process of earning his coaching qualifications, enjoyed a fruitful two-year spell with the Rams after joining the club from Herediano in 1997.

After scoring a sublime individual goal on his debut in a 3-2 victory over Manchester United, Wanchope found the back of the net on 13 occasions during his first full season at Pride Park.

In the following campaign, the forward scored nine goals as Derby secured an impressive eighth-place finish in the Premier League.

However, despite Wanchope becoming somewhat of a cult hero amongst the club's supporters, the Rams sold him in the summer of 1999 to West Ham United.

After seeing the club's post about the forward's return to the Rams, many Derby fans reacted in a positive manner on Twitter.

Providing that Derby seal all three points against Charlton this weekend, they could move up to 10th in the Championship standings depending on results elsewhere.
