Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood has recently admitted that he would “love to stay” at the club beyond this season, with his current contract expiring this summer.
The 34-year-old has been a regular for Wednesday over the last five years, making 150 appearances for the Yorkshire club since signing from Sunderland in 2014.
But the Republic of Ireland has endured a difficult year at Hillsborough – the experienced shot-stopper fell massively out of favour under former Wednesday boss Jos Luhukay, and didn’t play a single game of football for the Owls in well over a year.
There were even rumours linking him with a move to Yorkshire rivals Leeds United in December, but those rumours have definitely been squashed now, with the goalkeeper becoming Wednesday’s number one once again.
With his contract at Hillsborough expiring at the end of this season, Westwood told Sheffield Star’s Dom Howson that he would “love to stay” at the club.
Keiren Westwood spoke to the local media this morning.
