Tranmere striker James Norwood's stunning first full season in the Football League was recognised on Sunday as he was named League Two's Player of the Season.

Norwood has topped the League Two scoring charts with 27 goals, which also makes him the most prolific player across the top four divisions in terms of goals this season.

Among those 27 strikes, Norwood has hit the match winner in games Tranmere have won by a single goal on no fewer than seven occasions, with those goals proving vital in a play-off push that sees the Merseyside team fifth in League Two, seven points clear of the chasing pack in their first campaign back in the Football League since the 2014/15 season.

The contribution of Norwood to that campaign has clearly not gone unnoticed with the striker picking up the trophy for League Two's Player of the Season at the end of season awards on Sunday evening.

Following the announcement, fans from a number of clubs took to Twitter to praise Norwood's remarkable season.
