Cameron Dawson was the Sheffield Wednesday hero as they fought for a point in the Steel City derby against Sheffield United last night.

The 23-year-old keeper, who is a boyhood Owls fan, has come in for criticism in recent weeks after a tough start to the season.

A section of supporters chanted for experienced stopper Keiren Westwood in the 4-0 defeat to Norwich last week.

However, Dawson recorded his first clean sheet of the campaign at Bramall Lane, which was preserved thanks to an outstanding penalty save.

He got down quickly to his left to deny David McGoldrick from the spot in the 15th minute at a time when Wednesday looked very vulnerable and it prompted the away end to sing his name.

As well as that, his positioning and handling was decisive in a game where Jos Luhukay's men were under pressure for large spells.

Given that, many supporters were delighted for the player and pleased he had silenced his critics.

Here's how some responded to his display on twitter...
