According to reports from The Sun, Premier League side Burnley are weighing up a £9m move for Middlesbrough defender Nathan Wood.
The 17-year-old became the club’s youngest ever player when he featured against Notts County in the Carabao Cup last season, and has since gone from strength to strength upon his introduction to the first-team.
The centre-half made three appearances in all competitions last season and has made just the one appearance this time around, but could now be the subject of a big-money bid from the Clarets.
The Sun claim that Burnley, who failed with a move to sign Wood in the summer, are set to reignite their interest in January with a surprising £9m bid for the defender.
Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton have also been reportedly running the rule over the England under-18 international, who is yet to make a league appearance for Jonathan Woodgate’s side thus far.
Here, we take a look at what Boro fans have made of this interesting transfer news…

He only needs to look at Gibson to see what a terrible move it would be Dyche spends money then sometimes doesn’t even sit them on the bench

Do they only have defensive scouts in Teesside?
— Shaun Calvert (@Shaunelious) September 7, 2019
Shows how mad the game is! 9m for a championship player that hasn’t made his senior debut yet!
— David wennington (@Davidwenningto1) September 7, 2019
First Ben Gibson, then Dael Fry now Nathan Wood! Why don’t they come in for Ryan Shotton or Daniel Ayala? (I know why before anyone comments)
— Chris (@Chris17h87) September 7, 2019
Sure, Gibson + £15m.

If he is that great ..why is he not starting??
— Iain Willis (@djiainwillis) September 7, 2019
They’ve already ruined Ben Gibson
— Dave Allan (@DaveTheBravest) September 7, 2019
So they can kick him to one side like poor Ben Gibson no thanks. People may think wow 9mil but he is 17 plenty of time to progress and get better and increase his selling value to 4 times more than that. We need to keep our young players at this club to progress.
