Preston North End have completed their first signing of the summer transfer window, after confirming the arrival of centre back Patrick Bauer on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Charlton.

Bauer made 135 appearances for Charlton in all competitions during his four years with the club, and scored the last minute winner that secured their promotion back to the Championship with a 2-1 win over Sunderland in last month's play-off final.

One club who have missed out as a result of Preston's recruitment are Blackburn Rovers. The Ewood Park side had made Bauer a target as far back as last summer, and The Lancashire Telegraph have confirmed that the German was again a target for Rovers in the current transfer window before his move to Deepdale.

Tony Mowbray's side will now have to look for alternative defensive reinforcements as they aim to strengthen ahead their back line ahead of next season.

Taking to Twitter to react to Bauer's move to Preston, there were mixed feelings among Rovers fans, with some feeling their side had missed out, while others claimed there were better options for the club to consider.

Here's a look at what some of them had to say.
