Hull City’s perfect start to the League One sign came to a shuddering halt on Friday night, as they were thrashed 4-1 by Fleetwood Town at Highbury.
Going into the game, the Tigers had won all four of their league games this season without conceding all goal, but all that changed on the Fylde coast.
Harvey Saunders run and finish from a tight angle put the hosts ahead and although George Honeyman levelled from close range to ensure the game was all square at half time, three unanswered second half goals from Callum Camps, Saunders and Sam Stubbs secured an emphatic win for Fleetwood.
As well as the disappointment around the result, another concern for Hull will have been their ability to change their approach or find a route back into the game after going behind.
That is something that, as Hull fans took to Twitter during and after the game, once again led to plenty of scrutiny on manager Grant McCann, who has previously managed to avoid the type of criticism that he came in for during Hull’s relegation last season, in the current campaign.
Here, we take a look at what some of those Hull fans had to say about McCann’s setup and approach during that defeat on the Fylde Coast.
Hull fans tell everyone to calm dow, we just got beat 4-1 by Fleetwood. Open your eyes McCann is a bad manager. More losses the better, get this joker out #hcafc

The batty substitution after 55 minutes was crazy. A draw would have been a good result tonight. Why open it up so much so early in the 2nd half. Keep it tight and try and force them back slowly. Total arrogance and naivety from McCann. #hcafc

McCann makes changes when it’s too little too late and brings a bloke on who’s absolutely garbage and has touched the ball about 4 times in the whole 2nd half 😂 reality check tonight! Woeful! #HCAFC

You can't keep a clean sheet when only 1 of your back 4 turn up.
McCann made it worse by changing formation which gave them a huge space to exploit. Should have just taken Docherty off for Jones or Slater.
Only KLP and Emmanuel can come out of this with any credit. #hcafc

Beaten by the better side tonight. Perhaps this game is a reminder about McCann’s lack of plan b and by coming up against a half decent opposition in Fleetwood, we’ve been punished. Similar to last season in terms of how we’ve capitulated and it won’t be the only time. #hcafc
