Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly interested in signing Cardiff City defender Aden Flint according to Football Insider.

Flint made 26 league appearances for the Bluebirds last season, as they finished fifth in the Championship table, before being beaten by Fulham in their play-off semi-final.

But the centre-back has struggled for game time in this year's campaign, and is yet to make a league appearance for Neil Harris' side this term.

Cardiff are currently sat 16th in the second-tier standings, and will be eager to force themselves up the table at the earliest of opportunities.

Whilst Sheffield Wednesday are sat bottom of the Championship table, having been deducted 12 points for off-the-field problems at the start of the 2020/21 season.

Garry Monk is clearly keen to add depth to his defensive options, although QPR are also believed to be interested in signing Flint before Deadline Day.

But would Flint be a good addition to the Sheffield Wednesday team, and is he needed?

We discuss....

Chris Gallagher:

This would be a good signing for the Owls.

Flint has proven himself to be a very good player at this level over the years, even if his career has stalled somewhat after leaving Bristol City for Boro then Cardiff.

He is powerful in the air, dominant and the sort of leader that Garry Monk will want at the back. The only potential downside is that Wednesday have plenty of options at the back, particularly with Chey Dunkley returning from injury, so you would think that they should be prioritising other positions.

However, if Flint does arrive there shouldn't be any complaints as he is a good, proven player and could play a crucial role as they try to push up the table.

George Dagless:

Potentially yeah.

If we see Garry Monk looking to use a back three more this season then it might work if you put a couple of quick defenders around Flint in the middle of it.

He's a good defender that provides aerial prowess at both ends of the pitch and perhaps a new club would be best for him with him not really finding the form he had at Bristol City in his moves since.

Still a good player, though, and in the right system and set-up we could see it work out very nicely indeed.

Jake Sanders:

After a frustrating first campaign at Cardiff City where he struggled to nail down a regular place in Neil Harris' starting XI, Sheffield Wednesday offers up a great opportunity for Flint.

He remains one of the most dangerous players aerially in English football, epitomised by his remarkable goalscoring record in recent years.

And with the Owls desperately looking to overturn their 12-point deduction, they're going to need all the quality and experience available.

Flint possesses plenty of both and would therefore be a great addition.
