‘Shouldn’t be a debate’ – Plenty of Leeds United fans throw backing behind 25-year-old ahead of Derby clash

Marcelo Bielsa has a couple of selection headaches heading into the clash between Leeds United and Derby County this Saturday lunchtime.

Leeds were rescued by Eddie Nketiah off the bench on Sunday as they beat Barnsley 2-0, with the Arsenal loanee scoring the game’s opening goal before winning a penalty.

Yet, he’s not the only player pushing for a start, with Helder Costa – introduced at half-time on the weekend – also moving to the forefront of Bielsa’s mind.

Phil Hay’s latest column for The Athletic touches on how Costa might be the better alternative to Nketiah, given Patrick Bamford’s form.

The 25-year-old has featured in all seven of Leeds’ Championship fixtures, but is yet to start in the league.

With Jack Harrison proving to be inconsistent again and Pablo Hernandez not at the peak of his powers, there’s plenty of scope for Bielsa to start the former Wolves flyer.

Here is a closer look at what fans are saying on social media…
