Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is sweating on the extent of John Egan's injury that he picked up over the international break.

The centre-back has played a crucial part in their excellent start to the season and he has been ever-present in the starting XI for the Blades.

They are currently sat 4th in the Championship table, and remain well in the hunt for a promotion place back to the Premier League after a lengthy spell out of the top-flight for the Blades.

But Wilder will be hoping to add to his squad depth in January to help aid their promotion bid this season.

One man who they should certainly be targeting in the transfer window is Robert Huth who would be available on a free transfer having left former Premier League champions, Leicester City in the summer.

The German centre-back would bring experience to the Sheffield United defence and would be an excellent addition for any side in the Championship this season.

He has represented Stoke City and Chelsea on a number of occasions in the top-flight.

Most notably, Huth played a vital role for Leicester City when they won the Premier League in the 2015/2016 under the management of Claudio Ranieri so he would certainly bring a winning mentality with him to Bramall Lane if he was to link up with Chris Wilder's side.

He has suffered from his own injury problems in recent seasons but I think he would be worth the gamble, as he could prove to be one of the signings of the season for Wilder's side.

May will question whether Huth would take the step down to the Championship but with Sheffield United performing so well this season, he could be tempted to join the club and help them return to the Premier League.
