It has been nearly a month now since the Championship season drew to a close but still Middlesbrough fans wait to find out who will be managing them for the next one.

Tony Pulis was allowed to leave the Riverside after his contract expired in May and since then the club have been working to find a replacement that will satisfy a restless fanbase.

Post-Christmas collapse saw the North East club tumble out of automatic promotion contention and out of the top-six entirely so it will be interesting to see who is given the responsibility.

And according to the Northern Echo, a decision is close to being made with former centre-back Jonathan Woodgate leading the race.

So, how should Boro fans be feeling about this news?

We discuss...

Jacob Potter

"They shouldn't be best pleased.

"Woodgate doesn't have any experience of managing in the Championship, and Middlesbrough need stability, and I don't think this appointment would offer that.

"There are definitely better candidates out there in my opinion with the experience needed to take Boro back into the Premier League."

George Harbey

"It’s a bit of a mixed one in my opinion.

"Woodgate is a man who knows the club like the back of his hands, and he will know how to get the best out of the players.

"Of course, his lack of experience is somewhat alarming, but we’ve seen what a manager who understands the club can do, in Chris Wilder at Sheffield United."

Louie Chandler

"It seems like a real risk.

"Woodgate is incredibly inexperienced which is a justifiable worry for many but that is not to say there is no chance of him succeeding.

"He is arguably somebody who knows Boro better than anyone currently working for the club and that knowledge of values and expectations should not be underestimated in a manager's arsenal."
