Aston Villa fell to a 3-0 defeat against Wigan this afternoon in what was a disastrous afternoon for Dean Smith and his side.
Hardly anyone for the West Midlands side emerged with any credit and Neil Taylor in particular struggled against the Latics.
The left-back was brought back into the side for the game but failed to make a positive impact.
Right-back Reece James and winger Anthony Pilkington gave the Welsh international serious trouble all afternoon down the flank and it was the latter who turned Taylor inside out for the opener.
The former Norwich man did do a great bit of skill to get past the 29-year-old but it was poor defending.
And, things didn’t really get any better after the break, with the hosts dominating large parts and Taylor nowhere to be seen as his man Michael Jacobs scored with a free header.
As you would expect, such a performance drew severe criticism from the fans who weren’t happy at the embarrassing defeat.
Here’s how some reacted to Taylor’s display on twitter…
We’re a 1 man team, got nothing going forward without Grealish. Neil Taylor, worst defender in the league. Chester, woeful footballer. Bolasie would be sent back. Hause made us worse if anything. Miles and miles off promotion. #AVFC
