Sheffield Wednesday were comprehensively beaten by Rotherham United in their first Yorkshire derby of the season last night and many Owls fans have been heavily critical of goalkeeper Cameron Dawson’s performance.
The Wednesday shot-stopper’s indecision allowed Jamie Lindsay to nod home the opener after five minutes.
Dawson was at fault again for the second goal, misjudging a ball over the top that led to Tom Lees giving away a penalty and being shown a straight red card.
Dan Barlaser made no mistake from the penalty spot and then five minutes later Lindsay grabbed a third for Rotherham after the Owls keeper parried a shot into his path.
The Millers’ had the ball in the net again after the break but this time Dawson’s blushes were spared the offside flag.
Despite a good reaction save late on, it was a nightmarish afternoon for the 25-year-old and questions will certainly be asked whether he is the right man to take the number one jersey.
The experienced Keiren Westwood has been outcast under Monk, meaning Joe Wildsmith would be the likely replacement.
Are these 10 facts about Hillsborough true or false?
It appears many Wednesday fans have lost patience with their current starting keeper, as their comments on Twitter prove.

Name me another club in the championship that Dawson would get in…. I’ll wait #SWFC

Honestly think my mum would have been more effective in goal than Dawson last night. What is he doing?! Sure, blame Monk for the defeat, but what is he supposed to do about this? #swfc pic.twitter.com/Q3RuYCtYpU

I hate being negative about specific players but I would genuinely be looking in the free market to see if we could get a bargain keeper on a free. Dawson just isn’t progressing to anything approaching the standard we need, and he’s had enough chances now #swfc

Cannot believe what I witnessed during that first half. In over 40 years of following @swfc that was the worst 45 minutes of football I’ve ever seen. Actually seething at Cameron Dawson’s pathetic display…should never play for the club again on the back of that. #swfc

Knew the result before a ball was kicked, what do you expect starting Pelupessy in midfield. Dawson is a liability in goal, whole squad has no confidence and no ability to do basic defending…shambles #swfc

Need players from injury back desperately, drop Dawson hes got less confidence in net than me. We have to win Saturday or we’re down it’s simple as that, well be 8 points adrift of anyone and possibly 12 from safety. Sort it out now #swfc

Is Ola Tidman available because Dawson i can not defend any more he might as well be throwing ball into his own net after tonight #swfc
