It was hailed as the second coming of the Messiah at Loftus Road, when, on November 11, 2016, Ian Holloway was appointed the manager of Queens Park Rangers for the second time.

Ten years after he was last with the Rs, Ollie was back in London, and again in management after his failed tenure across the capital at Millwall.

Holloway replaced the outgoing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who was sacked after a poor run.

Continuity was the message after a turbulent few years at QPR, and Holloway was thought to be the man to bring the good times back having been appointed by chairman Tony Fernandez.

The reaction of return of a fans’ favourite was as expected.

During his 18 months at Loftus Road, Holloway lost half of his 80 games at the helm, winning 26 and drawing the other 14.

Ollie managed to swerve his side from relegation once appointed, keeping the Rs up by two points, despite only one win in their last eight games - which included a run of six consecutive defeats.

The following season, QPR finished mid-table before Holloway’s contract was terminated with immediate effect.

Much to the dismay of the some QPR fans.

During his second spell at Loftus Road, the idea was to stabilise the club and bring in youngsters; Holloway did that despite erratic form.

Steve McClaren was the man appointed to move the club into a new era after Ollie’s initial hard-work at Loftus Road.

Fans were shocked at the termination of Holloway, especially after his triumphant return 18 months earlier.

QPR sit 18th in the Championship this season so far after two wins and a draw after losing their opening four matches.

So far, the fans have been right in feeling hard done by that Holloway was gone for a manager like McClaren.
