Jordan Beyer has been an excellent find for Burnley in the Championship this season, on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach, and the Clarets may be interested in his services come the summer.

The 22-year-old has played the entirety of the club's last 13 second tier matches, and even though he has a contract at Gladbach running for another three years after this season, the lure of Premier League football could make Burnley a very attractive option for the German.

With CJ Egan-Riley and Luke McNally seemingly not in Vincent Kompany's first team plans at the moment, the Clarets will likely be looking to recruit in their backline in the summer, even after adding Ameen Al-Dakhil and Hjalmar Ekdal last month.

We gathered the thoughts of a selection of FLW writers to see if they believe the Clarets should pursue a permanent move for Beyer in the summer...

Definitely.

There's been so much chat about how exciting a prospect Taylor Harwood-Bellis is, and what a player he is going to be by the way, that we've maybe been guilty of underappreciating Jordan Beyer.

The 22-year-old has been brilliant since joining on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach and seems to fit Vincent Kompany's system really well.

It would not be a surprise to me if the German club don't want to let him go given how impressive he's been this term.

But if a deal can be done then the Clarets should do it - particularly given Harwood-Bellis is set to return to Man City.

Jordan Beyer has been excellent in Burnley colours this season and has emerged as an important source of consistency and reliability.

A mature, intelligent and physical central defender, he has adapted to Vincent Kompany's style of football and he will undoubtedly be enjoying his football at Turf Moor.

However, there are a lot of contributing factors that will determine whether or not a permanent move to Burnley could come to fruition.

Obviously, Beyer's experience with Burnley will play a large part in this particular situation, whilst that will have to align with Burnley's plans.

Borussia Monchengladbach's opinion of the player could be and probably will be the biggest stumbling block, given that he is still just 22 years of age and absolutely thriving in Lancashire.

I think Burnley should try and secure a permanent deal for Beyer but whether or not they could is a completely different question.

Marcus Ally

They should certainly explore the option.

Burnley will be well placed to land Beyer on permanent terms or at least to bring him in on loan again, sadly for Gladbach, the lure of the Premier League, even a potential relegation battle in it, can be greater than a top half push in the Bundesliga, and the Clarets would be able to offer a more competitive financial package to the 22-year-old.

It will be fascinating to monitor the Clarets' transfer business in the summer, with the club set to make the big step up to the Premier League, but Kompany may be keen to retain some of the core that has performed so well for him this season, and Beyer is definitely an important part of that.

It would be a surprise not to see this one get done in the summer.
