Kieren Westwood has been made to fight for his career this season at Sheffield Wednesday, spending most of the early part training with the kids.

Once manager Jos Luhukay was fired, the popular 34-year-old found a way back into the side. With him in the sticks, the Owls have gone from strength to strength and are still in the hunt for an unlikely play-off spot.

They beat Blackburn 4-2 yesterday to keep their hopes alive, with just two points the gap between them and the sixth-placed team. There's a lot of work to do in the next eight matches if they are to make it, but it's possible.

Westwood has impressed immensely, adding a calmness to the back four that wasn't evident in the early stages of the season, Perhaps he was a little too calm yesterday as he received a back pass in his own area and did a Cruyff turn to evade the on rushing attacker.

He went on Twitter after the game, claiming he's been watching Ederson at Manchester City, learning some skills.

Had it gone wrong, he might have been in hot water, instead he's got the adulation of these Wednesday fans to read this morning.
