‘Should be embarrased’, ‘School boy stuff’ – Many Derby fans critical of midfielder after Coventry draw

A late Coventry City equaliser ensured that Derby County were unable to claim their first win since October last night and many Rams fans have been heavily critical of the performance of midfielder Max Bird.

Colin Kazim-Richards looked to have won the game for Derby when he nodded in his first goal for the club in the 83rd minute.

But it was not to be for the Rams as Gustavo Hamer crashed in a volley from the edge of the box in the first minute of injury time.

The result left Derby supporters understandably frustrated and Bird appears to have caught some flak from them.

The 20-year-old midfielder impressed after breaking into the first-team last season, drawing links with Premier League clubs in the summer, but it seems he disappointed the Pride Park faithful yesterday.

Bird’s stats suggest the Englishman had a decent evening – connecting with 82% of his passes, winning five of his six defensive duels, and making three interceptions and three tackles (Sofascore) – but it seems some fans felt the Rams academy prospect struggled.

Which club did Derby County sign each of these 25 players from?

John Brayford?

Many took to Twitter to voice their concerns about Bird’s performance, which included missing a gilt-edged chance, against the Sky Blues.
