Leeds United's quest for an automatic promotion place took a major blow at the weekend, after falling to a 1-0 defeat against rivals Sheffield United at Elland Road.

It was shaping up to be the biggest game of the season in the Championship thus far, with both sides knowing that a win would place them in good stead of an automatic promotion place come the end of the season.

The Whites were bound to be full of confidence after three wins on the bounce, but failed to replicate the performance they put in against the likes of West Bromwich Albion and Bristol City in recent weeks.

Marcelo Bielsa's men created plenty of chances, but just didn't have the ruthless edge in front of goal, as the Blades made them pay deep into the second-half. Billy Sharp dispossessed Liam Cooper, who then played the ball to Chris Basham who slotted home emphatically.
