Aston Villa defender Micah Richards hasn’t played for the club since October 2016, yet the former England international remains on the books at Villa Park.
Richards has become something of a forgotten man at B6, rarely featuring under Steve Bruce after his first couple of weeks in-charge and not working his way into Dean Smith’s plans.
However, the 30-year-old remains on the books at Villa Park and picking up a wage, with supporters hearing very little out of the player.
Over the weekend there was a reply from Richards’ official Twitter account, with the former Man City man responding to a fan stating ‘shame it never worked out for him’.
Thanks for the nice words but am fully satisfied with how my career worked out. Injuries stopped my hitting more heights but how can a grumble at winning the prem playing in a different league and a tough mental challenge at villa! I give 100% in everything I do! That’s enough

In his response, Richards notes the ‘tough mental challenge at Villa’, which has sparked plenty of response amongst the Villa Park faithful.
Here is a look at what some Villa supporters had to say in response to the defender’s rare update…
Worst Villa signing ever.Apart from Bosko perhaps. I'm not talking about injuries and bleeding us dry .I mean when you actually played .Anyway you won't care .Best wishes for the future

Micah moved to Villa with intention of giving his all, had the right attitude whilst others were a disgrace relegation season, career ruined by an injury, those slating him could stop and think maybe? Would you cancel your contract? Doubt it. He didn't want a career ending injury

Always have Villas relegation on your CV that's something to be proud of.

He should be ashamed of what he done at Aston Villa.

How can you be satisfied with your career. You’re a disgrace at Villa and I can’t wait to see you leave at the end of the season. £50,000 a week ??!!! doing absolutely nothing.
