Chris Hughton will be forced to make an enforced change to his Nottingham Forest side against Middlesbrough this weekend, after drawing 1-1 with Luton Town on Wednesday night.

The Reds came from behind for the third successive game under Hughton to draw 1-1, with Glen Rea tapping home on 22 minutes, before scoring an own-goal in the second-half.

Nicholas Ioannou was shown a straight red card on the stroke of half-time with Forest already trailing by a goal to nil, but they showed real character to come from behind and get something out of the game.

Ioannou will be banned for the next three games as a result of his red card, opening the door for someone to come into the team and keep their place in the side.

Nottingham Forest quiz: Are these 12 facts about the Reds’ history genuine or not?

There are many contenders to fill the vacant role at left-back. Carl Jenkinson came on and played at left-back last night, and he could well keep his place in the team going forward.

Gaetan Bong is a player Hughton knows well having worked together at Brighton and Hove Albion, so he could well be given a chance to stake a regular place in the team.

Tyler Blackett was out injured, but another left-back who has seemingly been frozen out at the City Ground is Yuri Ribeiro.

Ribeiro was a key player for Forest last season, making a host of appearances under Sabri Lamouchi as Forest narrowly missed out on a play-off spot.

This season, though, Ribeiro has made one appearance for the Reds, which came in the first round of the Carabao Cup against Barnsley at Oakwell.

It's unknown as to why Ribeiro has been pushed so far away from the side after a hugely impressive campaign last term, but he will be keen to get back to his best and get back to playing as soon as possible.

Now there's a position in the side up for grabs, Ribeiro will be desperate to make one last claim for a place in the side, and if he performs well in these next three games, Ioannou could find it hard to get back into the side.

It is harsh on Ioannou after a solid start to the season since arriving from APOEL, but this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for the 23-year-old.
