Charlton Athletic fell to defeat last night as they were beaten 1-0 by a Sheffield Wednesday goal in the 95th minute.

The strike came from Steven Fletcher as he headed in from the six-yard area after the Addicks had failed to clear a free-kick.

Wednesday put their visitors under pressure for the duration of the game but they found Charlton keeper Dillon Phillips having the game of his life with his save to deny a Fletcher header arguably being the pick of the bunch across the night.

Lyle Taylor went close in the second half despite Charlton being restricted to half-chances. His thunderous half-volley from outside the area smashed off the bar in one of the six attempts Lee Bowyer's side had at goal.

The result sucks the Addicks into even more relegation danger as they are now only two points ahead of the 22nd-placed Wigan Athletic.
