Ipswich Town fans have taken to social media to discuss Paul Cook’s revelation that the takeover of the club last week came as a ‘total surprise’ to him.
The Tractor Boys are embarking on a new era with Marcus Evans giving up his majority stake in the club to allow the new ownership to come in and give the club some fresh financial impetus.
Indeed, it’s going to be interesting to see how the Tractor Boys do in the coming months as they look to get into the Championship and obviously use the summer to help strengthen the squad.
Paul Cook has revealed that talks with the new senior figures have been positive, though, and also revealed that the takeover came as a ‘total surprise’ to him.
This comes via Ipswich reporter Stuart Watson:
Paul Cook admits takeover came as 'total surprise', but says talks with 'absolute gentleman' Mike O'Leary been '100% positive'
Says new owners 'got a real strong pedigree in football and that makes me quite excited. Future of this club looks to be in very, very good hands' #itfc

Certainly, it’s a bit of a surprise in itself to hear that Cook apparently knew nothing about the takeover and, naturally, Ipswich fans have taken to social media to discuss the revelation.
Let’s take a look at what has been said:
So he knew nothing about it when he signed on the dotted line? I find that very hard to believe, particularly with his ‘exciting things are going to be happening’ remarks just after he took over. 🤷🏻♂️

With his name even being mentioned as the man they want in charge haha

Really? Something does not quite add up here. Perhaps the CEO appointment has more of a bearing on all of this than we fully appreciate?

Well your more reassuring than the club statement Stu.
