Former Sunderland defender Micky Gray has taken to Twitter to hit out at Netflix over the second series of the docu-series 'Sunderland Til I Die'.

The six-part series depicts the 2018/19 season and includes behind the scenes footage, interviews, and match coverage.

Last term was a tumultuous one for the Black Cats, who were relegated from the Championship the preceding summer.

Jack Ross' side were beaten twice at Wembley – first losing to Portsmouth in the EFL Trophy final and then suffering further heartbreak as Charlton Athletic scored a 95th-minute winner in the play-off final.

The second series of 'Sunderland Til I Die' was released yesterday and seems to have been relatively popular – perhaps no surprise given the EFL season is suspended at the moment.

One man who has not seemed to enjoy it is Gray. The 45-year-old made 184 appearances for the Black Cats as a player and hit out at Netflix and the series earlier today.

The former Sunderland defender appears to be furious that his interview was not used for the show and has leveled an accusation at the makers of the series that it is misleading.

The Verdict

Prior to this comment from Gray, most of the responses to the series seem to have been relatively positive.

It's difficult to know whether the former Sunderland player is just frustrated that he didn't feature in the series and his time was wasted, or whether he really feels the show is misleading.

Whatever the case, it will likely provide many fans with a well-needed fix of football in the current climate.
