News emerged yesterday that Nottingham Forest were keen to speak to Ben Garner about the possibility of taking over the vacant managerial role at the City Ground.

Garner is currently assistant to Tony Pulis at West Brom and has worked with the former Stoke boss for a large chunk of his career.

Forest have been linked with moves for Gary Rowett and a had an approach knocked back by Fulham for Slavisa Jokanovic, but Garner appears to be a more realistic option, providing he is keen to begin a managerial career under his own steam.

With Forest in the midst of a relegation battle, Garner would face a tough task if he was to be named the new manager but after working under Pulis, he could too be a relegation escape master.

This news has certainly split opinion amongst Forest fans, with many sceptical about appointing a manager with no experience.
