Cardiff City’s defensive frailties were there for all to see on Tuesday, as they fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Luton Town to see them crash out of the EFL Cup.
The Bluebirds only had 30% possession on the night, in a game where the Hatters certainly took the chances that came their way.
Junior Hoilett’s own goal shortly before half-time saw the visitors head into the break with a one-goal lead.
That lead was then doubled when Alan Sheehan scored just after the hour mark, before Jake Jervis made it comfortable with 20 minutes remaining on the night.
It means that Neil Warnock’s side are out of the EFL Cup, and will be concentrating on turning their stuttering start to life back in the Championship around at the earliest of opportunities.
Plenty of Cardiff fans weren’t happy following their exit from the EFL Cup.

Couldn’t care less about the cups but that’s absolutely embarrassing!!! Friday night is a massive game for Warnock.

Oh well, let’s just concentrate on survival in the Championship

Nevermind a 3-0 loss to Luton Town.. How on earth are we having 28% possession at home? 🤔

Abysmal support – less than 4,000 so the players were not given much to back them.

An absolute embarrassment!! My 10 year old son plays better football than what these have lately!! Need to change those tactics

Stinking result. Neil, you've handled every cup game for us terribly.

Against Luton as well. The players warnock picked should have been busting a gut to get a regular place.
Not bothered about going out but very worried about our performances.
I lost faith in warnock after a month in Premier league last year but never thought it would get so bad

Think this result has put pressure on what has already been a indifferent start
