Reading FC striker Nelson Oliveira suffered gruesome injuries on Saturday after a stamp from Tyrone Mings in the goalless draw with Aston Villa.

The incident made many people wince and pictures of Oliveira’s face have shown the damage inflicted by the Aston Villa centre-back, whether it was intentional or not.

Now, the Royals have shared an update on their social media account, confirming that the FA will take no retrospective action because the referee saw the incident in-play.

Mings had taken to his own social media platform to state he felt “awfully sorry” for Oliveira and that he hoped his opponent was okay after the incident.

However, this fresh update from Reading has been met with a strong response from supporters, who feel punishment should be handed to the Villa man, who was found guilty of a similar offence during his AFC Bournemouth days.
