Chelsea and Swansea City midfielder Conor Gallagher is a summer target of Crystal Palace, reports The Sun.

The 20-year-old has had a fine debut season in men's football, first impressing with Charlton Athletic in the Championship, and then at Swansea City.

Now though it's understood that Roy Hodgson at Palace is keen to bring the Chelsea youngster to Selhurst Park in time for next season, either on-loan or permanently - £10 million is the reported figure.

Gallagher has made 39 Championship appearances in total this season, scoring six goals (all for Charlton). He burst onto the scene at the start of the season when Charlton were flying high in the Championship table, but Lee Bowyer couldn't hold on to him.

Then joining a Swansea side managed by the reputed youth coach Steve Cooper, Gallagher has found a new role playing in behind Rhian Brewster, but hasn't managed to maintain his scoring streak.

But he's remained impressive nevertheless, and the wider expectation was that Gallagher would return to Chelsea in the summer and compete for a first-team spot there.

Though Frank Lampard has several central options that would likely leave Gallagher on the bench, and another loan deal - this time in the Premier League - seems the likeliest outcome.

The verdict

In the first-half of the season, Gallagher was one of the league's standout players. He moved to a Swansea side who can be quite negative in their play at times, but has remained a creative force, and is a player clearly on the radars of the top clubs.

Should he finish strongly with Swansea, and hopefully score a few goals, then he'll likely be playing in the top-flight next season.
