Derby County have made a bid for Norwich City striker Nelson Oliveira, according to reports in HITC.
The Rams are said to be keen on the Portuguese forward as they chase an automatic promotion spot, with a reported £8 million bid sanctioned by boss, Gary Rowett.
The Portuguese international joined the Canaries from Benfica in 2016 following a successful loan spell with Nottingham Forest, and has scored an impressive eighteen goals in forty-eight league games following his arrival at Carrow Road.
Oliveira was an instant revelation, scoring fifteen goals in his debut year, and has continued his fine form this season with seven goals in only fourteen starts, despite his season being hampered by persistent injuries.
Reading and Swansea City failed in summer bids for the player, and with a World Cup on the horizon, a switch to a promotion-chasing side may appeal to the 26-year-old.
Derby County are in the midst of an electric run of form, and Rowett’s men looked destined for second-place in the league should they sustain their current run.
Oliveira is a natural goalscorer, and in the right team, could become prolific. Derby appear to be that side.
The Rams have lacked a striker this season, with just Sam Winnall stepping up on occasion, and should this deal get over the line, then Derby must be considered one of the favourites for promotion.
