Many Middlesbrough fans have responded to their fixture list as they begin to plan out their season.

It's that time of year when fans find out their fate; where they might witness pandemonium, where they might witness heartbreak.

People look for the big ones: opening game, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and last game.

For Boro, they face Luton Town away from home on the opening day, Huddersfield Town at home on Boxing Day, Preston North End away on New Year's Day and travel to Sheffield Wednesday to round off the season.

There was a mixed response from the fans; many were happy about the home Boxing Day fixture, but some expressed their discontent at playing away for both the opening and final game of the season.

Here are some of the best responses...

The Verdict

Predicting whether someone has gotten a fortunate set of fixtures in the Championship is almost impossible, as the league is so hard to predict.

For Boro's beginning to the season, they have a pretty ideal August, with perhaps the exception of Bristol City away on the 31st. Playing teams who were towards the lower ends of the Championship last season, they have an opportunity to get off to a good start under Woodgate.

On the flip side, their Christmas period doesn't look too friendly. Stoke, Huddersfield, West Brom and Preston won't be easy at such a crucial part of the season.

To finish the season they have a reasonably nice run in on the face of it, but who knows what each team will be fighting for at that stage; going away to Hillsborough to finish won't be an easy task at all.
