Shipley starts: The predicted Coventry City XI to play Cardiff on Tuesday night

Coventry City will be hoping to earn back to back wins as they take on Cardiff City on Tuesday.

Mark Robins’ side came out 3-2 winners on Saturday against Reading.

A 65th minute strike from Ian Maasten was enough to separate the two sides, who traded the lead in the previous hour of football.

The win brought Coventry back into play-off contention, with a five point gap to the top six but with games in hand.

Tuesday night’s game represents one of those spare fixtures that the club can use to make up ground on their rivals.

A win could take Coventry as high as seventh in the table, two points off the play-offs.

But Cardiff will be hoping to go back to winning ways, after a 2-1 loss to Millwall on Saturday ended their three game winning run.

Here is how we think Coventry will line up as they prepare to face the Bluebirds…

It is unlikely that Robins will decide to make any changes to the side that beat Reading.

While the manner of the win wasn’t as comfortable as Coventry fans might have liked, considering Reading’s atrocious recent form, the team did still do enough to earn the three points.

The one place of contention will come down the left-hand side of the team.

Quiz: Did Coventry City win, lose or draw in each of these 25 games this season?

Middlesbrough (A)?

Three players are seemingly fighting over two positions, at left wing-back and at left-wing.

Ian Maasten and Jake Bidwell were chosen on Saturday, but Jordan Shipley may have earned a place in the team following the performance against Reading.

Bidwell is most likely to miss out, with Shipley coming into the team.
