Sheffield Wednesday are winless in their last four league games, which will make concerning reading for both Garry Monk at the club's supporters heading into the festive period.

Their latest defeat came against league leaders West Brom at The Hawthorns, as Slaven Bilic's side ran out 2-1 winners on the day to remain top of the Championship table.

But their defeat wasn't the only issue on the day, with Liam Palmer being sent-off late on into the game, which means the defender will miss Sheffield Wednesday's next three games.

The full-back has been in impressive form recently, and has made a total of 14 appearances in all competitions for the Owls so far this term.

It leaves Garry Monk with a potential selection dilemma heading into their game against Birmingham City on Wednesday evening at Hillsborough.

One player that will be hoping he can be given the nod by the Sheffield Wednesday boss is Moses Odubajo, who some might feel is the obvious choice to replace Palmer in the starting XI heading into the festive period.

Odubajo has struggled to force his way into the Sheffield Wednesday team since arriving at Hillsborough during the summer, and will be keen to show Monk what he can offer the team as they look to win promotion into the Premier League.

He has been restricted to just ten appearances this term, so it's clear to see that he'll be quietly pleased that Palmer is suspended for Sheffield Wednesday's next three games.

Odubajo has already shown in the past that he can cut it in the Championship, having previously played for both Brentford and Hull City earlier in his career.

Palmer has been in impressive form so far this season, so it's understandable that Odubajo's opportunities have been somewhat limited in this year's campaign.

But with the 28-year-old out of the first team picture for the next three games, it's the perfect opportunity for Odubajo to show Garry Monk what he can offer the Sheffield Wednesday team.

If he can impress, then Monk could well have a selection dilemma for the remainder of the season, which certainly isn't a bad situation to be in for any manager.
