Sheffield Wednesday have announced the departures of seven more players from Hillsborough ahead of the summer transfer window.

Following confirmation on Sunday of that six senior players - including Gary Hooper and George Boyd - are to leave the club following the end of their contracts, The Owls have now revealed that seven of the club's youth players are set to depart Hillsborough.

In a statement on the club's official website, it was announced that six of the club's Under 23s squad, Warren Clarke, Cameron McCulloch, Freddie Nielsen, Connor O'Grady, Dan Wallis and Liam Williams, as well as Eyad Hammoud from the club's Under 18s side, will not have their deals extended beyond the end of the season.

Of those players, only Nielsen and O'Grady have made appearances for the club's senior, with Nielsen appearing five times for The Owls first team, and O'Grady featuring once in each domestic cup competition during his time with The Hillsborough club.

The Verdict

This is another sign of the changes that Steve Bruce appears to be looking to implement at the club, who are clearly moving quickly to put plans in place ahead of next season.

This will have been tough to take for a number of these players, but they must now look to build on what they have learned at Wednesday, and look to take it elsewhere as they aim to continue their careers in the game.
