For Sheffield Wednesday, this season has become something of a write off.

Replacing manager Jos Luhukay with experienced campaigner Steve Bruce seems to be a smart move by the Owls, but Bruce will take time and a bit of money to get the best from his squad based on some of the performances we are seeing at the moment.

While Bruce has steadied the ship somewhat and is building a solid foundation, it can't take away from the fact we have seen some truly terrible displays from the Owls this season, whose players have at times let their loyal and large fanbase down with some dismal showings.

This season appears to be petering out into nothing really, but it doesn't hurt to have a bit of reflection sometimes, and that's exactly what we here at FLW were doing when thinking about the Owls' season so far.

While there has been some decent performances, most have been decidedly average at best, so with that, we've looked at the THREE worst performances for Sheffield Wednesday this season...

A 4-2 scoreline did not reflect the flow of this game really as a rampant Rovers side could easily have stuck six or seven past a hapless Owls.

Some terrible defending by Wednesday only further highlighted the issues at the club at the time, and while two goals for looks ok, it really wasn't as close as the score suggests.

A massive eye opener for Owls fans this one, as they were dispatched with ease by a newly promoted side.

While Norwich are flying high, the manner in which they clinically took apart the Owls at Hillsborough showed just how far away Wednesday had got from the upper echelons of Championship football.

Ruthless finishing from the Canaries capped a fine away performance for them, but with much of the home crowd gone at the hour mark, this was a dismal day all around for the blue half of Sheffield.

This result, although not the worst showing of the season, represented a big sucker punch to the Owls, who had gone on a decent run under caretaker boss Lee Bullen.

Nigel Adkins' men dismantled the Owls who having previously looked solid, were exposed in numerous areas of the field.

This result all but ended any hope of Wednesday stringing together a late run at the top six.
